Balestrand is located on the north shore of the Sognefjord which leads 200 Km into the country. There is a variety of different landscapes with high mountains, glaciers, waterfalls and many fruit plantage. Nature lovers and fisher men will enjoy the flora and fauna. The four vacation homes are located in Maalsnes, situated at the shore of the Fjord. The village Balestrand is about 10 minutes away with the car. During winter time the surrounding area has a lot to offer. For example : Ski area Saurdal (about 6 km away) there is a babylift and cross country slopes lengths about 10 Km. Ski area Høyanger (about 25 Km away) there is a drag lift plus babylift with flood light and cross country slopes lengths about 7 Km with flood lights. Ski area Vik (about 25 Km away), large facility with many different lifts, Halfpipe, cross country slopes, ice ring, flood light. Ski area Leikanger (about 25 Km away), drag lift, cross country slopes, partly with flood light.

January - February : Coldest months, maximum temperature during the day 5°C. In the valley the level of snow varies from 0-50 cm. Snow security above 300 m, the weather is changing a lot. Great for ice fishing in the partly frozen side arms of the Fjord.
March : Maximum temperature during the day 10°C. In the valley the level of snow varies from 0-50 cm. Snow security above 300 m, the weather is changing a lot. Ice fishing still possible. February and March are good to fish for cod and coalfish from the boat.
April : Clear temperature rise and rapid increase of the daylight duration, maximum temperature during the day 15°C, hardly any snow in the valley, snow security above 400-600 m, the weather is relatively steadily with long dry periods.
May : Is the Spring month. The nature is blossoming and green. The landscape is beautiful with the green valleys and snow-covered mountains. Daylight already nearly around the clock, maximum temperature during the day 18°C.
June : Brightest summer month with 24 hours daylight. Maximum temperature during the day 23°C. All pass roads are opened. Beginning of the fishing season for salmon and trout in the rivers.
July - August : Warmest months, with the highest water temperatures (max. 20°C). Maximum temperature during the day 25°C. Fish for all usual seawater fishes as herring and Mackerel.
September : Beautiful late summer month with relatively high daytime temperatures. The nature starts the beautiful autumn colouring from middle September. Maximum temperature during the day 20°C.
October : Clear decrease of temperature and the daylight. Still dry period. Apart from May, October is the beautiful contrast month with multicolored autumn in the valley and already snow-covered mountains. Maximum temperature during the day 15°C. Pass roads are still open.
November - December : Mostly rained months, middle December in the valley partly as snow. Dailight from 9.00 am until 3.00 pm. Maximum temperature during the day 5-10°C. Winter activities start middle December.
